WEB EXCLUSIVE A new family of color masterbatches is formulated for use with medical-grade PE and PP resins sold under the Purell brand name by LyondellBasell, Wilmington, Del. The Remafin MD masterbatches from Clariant Masterbatches, Holden, Mass., incorporate pigments and carrier resins that have been tested and certified compliant with USP Class VI standards. These masterbatches are produced on an extrusion line specially designed for manufacturing medical-grade masterbatches at a Clariant plant in Lewiston, Me. Clariant’s stock Purell-based masterbatches include a range of solid, opaque colors as well as translucent and transparent tints. Class VI-compliant custom colors are also available. Remafin MD colorants can be used in injection molding and extrusion to make medical devices and medical/pharmaceutical packaging. Remafin MD colorants are also available for many other polyolefins.
