More than 2,000 visitors from Germany and the rest of Europe, Japan, Korea, Russia, Israel, China, and Thailand recently attended the latest traditional in-house exhibition of products from Maschinenfabrik Berthold Hermle AG in Gosheim, Germany, over the four days from April 23 to 26. The record crowd was given a good overview of the new technology offered through Hermle’s programme of machining centres.

The more than 20 machines on display in the Technology and Training Centre represented the fields in which Hermle equipment is used. These include tool, die, and mould making, medical technology, automotive and motor sports, the optical industry, and suppliers to the above, among many more.

One highlight of the open house was the newly introduced B 300 machining centre, billed by the manufacturer as “the ideal entry point to 3- and 5-axis machining technology.” This machine drew considerable interest and found several buyers during the event, according to Hermle.

Another attraction was an RS 3 robot system, integrated into the machining processes, that can transport weights up to 500 kg, serves two Hermle C 40 U 5-axis machining centres, and in future will be used for fully automatic machining of castings and aluminium parts. This system was developed by the Hermle subsidiary Hermle-Leibinger Systemtechnik GmbH in Tuttlingen, which is responsible for manufacturing automation components for use with Hermle machines.

The successful event was topped off by the special Tool Technology exhibit featuring 40 exhibitors from such industry sectors as tool technology, computer-aided design and manufacturing, and control technology.

Tours of the plant made evident Hermle AG’s manufacturing depth, illustrating especially the company’s ultramodern manufacturing equipment, up-to-date assembly concepts, and upcoming investment plans for the Gosheim facility.
