“Organization as a Driver of Business Improvements” is the slogan of the conference Orodjarstvo 2008 (Toolmaking 2008) scheduled to take place October 7–9 in Portoroz, Slovenia. The venue is the Hotel Slovenija. This will be the jubilee 30th edition of the event, and its focus is on organizing toolmaking business enterprises so that they can meet the challenges of the global marketplace, increasing environmental consciousness, and the need to manage costs through so-called lean manufacturing.
The event is organized and sponsored by the Committee for Toolmaking of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia (CCIS) Metal Processing Association headquartered in Ljubljana, in association with the faculties of mechanical engineering of the University of Ljubljana and the University of Maribor. The media sponsor is the industry magazine IRT3000.
CCIS is accepting article abstracts up to 300 words from prospective conference speakers until May 23. Full articles should be submitted by July 18.
Instead of a site visit this year, the organizers are inviting companies offering products and services related to toolmaking to exhibit at the conference location. Exhibitors may submit applications to participate via e-mail or can make their reservations using the application form available at the website indicated below. The deadline for exhibitors is June 20.
More than 150 toolmaking specialists are expected to attend the conference, offering a good opportunity for professionals to share their industry experience. Deep admission-price discounts are available for students. A banquet on the evening of Day 2 and luncheon on Day 3 enhance the networking possibilities and social quality of the 30th Toolmaking conference.
