Economical hydraulic and all-electric models with a selected list of standard features and options, and a press designed for general packaging applications, are new from Ferromatik Milacron in Germany (div. of Milacron Inc., Batavia, Ohio). Ferromatik’s new Base-Tec line (pictured) is derived from the company’s K-Tec series of hydraulic presses and will be built and assembled by an Asian partner of Ferromatik Milacron. Four Base-Tec models from 44 to 122 tons will be priced from about $53,600. A similar approach to economical design is used for the new “Elektra selection” (ES) line, based on the company’s “Elektra evolution” all-electric presses. It comes in 55, 82, and 122 tons, is built in Germany, and is sold only in Europe at present. Milacron also developed the new Cap-Tec XL general packaging series based on its Cap-Tec line for caps and closures. The first model is the 220-ton Cap-Tec 200 XL. A 330- and 440-tonner are planned.
