The companies Blohm Maschinenbau GmbH and K. Jung GmbH have international reputations as respected manufacturers of surface and profile grinding machines: Blohm for efficient series production and Jung for precise individual solutions. This was seen by executives of the Schleifring Group as an excellent premise for merging these two companies in its portfolio to form the new Blohm Jung GmbH.
The two specialist companies are believed to have better market opportunities and improved prospects for the future if they function as a single entity.
The two machine brands and their technological characteristics, as well as the company locations in Hamburg (Blohm) and Göppingen (Jung), are being maintained, and no jobs are intended to be cut.
The merger represents a strategic development of the Schleifring companies in the field of surface and profile grinding. Blohm’s and Jung’s practical expertise will be bundled by means of technology transfer and targeted staff training. In future, one sales team will be in a position to represent the whole spectrum of surface and profile grinding technology. This should result in greater competence, more-detailed advice and customer support, and greater area coverage. A full product portfolio of standard products and custom systems will be offered worldwide from a one-stop shop.
In addition, the R&D cooperation already part of the original companies’ relationship will be intensified so that the new company can react more quickly to market requirements and present innovative product solutions in a more targeted way. An extension of the product programme to new, common machine platforms should help Blohm Jung open up new market sectors and offer customers better, more efficient, and commercially more interesting machines.
The management of Blohm Jung GmbH is being assumed by Krister Bruhn and Uwe Henning, long-standing CEOs of Blohm and Jung, respectively.
