The countdown to the 2010 World Powder Metallurgy Congress & Exhibition was officially launched at the Italian embassy in London on June 10. Over 100 prominent figures from the world powder metallurgy (PM) community were invited to attend the prestigious inaugural affair.
The EPMA’s President, Ingo Cremer, president of the European Powder Metallurgy Association (EPMA), and Prof. Alberto Molinari, cochairman of the World PM2010 Steering Committee, made introductory presentations regarding the next world PM congress and exhibition, which will take place at the Fortesso de Basso Congress Centre in Florence, Italy.
“The Italian embassy was the perfect venue to host the official launching of the 2010 World Congress & Exhibition, and we were very honoured to be allowed to use such a lovely building,” says Jonathan Wroe, the EPMA executive director.
The previous World PM Congress & Exhibition was held in Washington, DC, in 2008. The last one hosted by EPMA in Europe was the 2004 event in Vienna.
Continues Wroe, “We are looking forward to building on the success of the Washington event in the culturally rich city of Florence, Italy. Florence is a city associated with both the history and the future of Europe’s science, industry, and culture. Its easy accessibility, modern business facilities, excellent hotels, and historic architecture will make it a great centre for this, the largest gathering of the PM community in 2010.”
The World PM2010 Congress & Exhibition is scheduled for October 10–14, 2010. It will cover the full range of PM topics in the technical sessions, and includes a world-class exhibition that will run in parallel with them.
A first announcement for PM2010, containing details about the technical programme, conference centre location, social activities, and exhibition, will be circulated soon.
