With seven months to go until Swisstech 2008, more than 400 companies have registered for the exhibition, claiming two-thirds of the exhibition area. This year, joint stands involving foreign companies will contribute to the diversity of Swisstech and underline the level of interest among foreign exhibitors in this fair for the subcontracting industry. The organizer, MCH Swiss Exhibition (Basel) Ltd., is confident of staging a high-quality event.
Swiss Exhibition is organizing the Swisstech fair for the 14th time. Swisstech 2008 will be held in Hall 2 of the Exhibition Centre Basel November 18–21. In 2006, Swisstech had 685 exhibiting companies and nearly 23,000 visitors.
The joint stands that are popular at Swisstech offer small companies the chance to take part in the exhibition at an affordable cost. In addition to the Swiss joint stands, there will be joint displays from companies in Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Liechtenstein, Spain, and the Czech Republic. The number of participants from Germany is higher overall than at the previous edition. Italy will be represented by two joint stands this year at Swisstech, from two areas in Lombardy.
Once again, a Swisstech partner association is organizing a joint display. Members of Swissmechanic, the Swiss association for mechanical and electrical companies, are putting on a presentation in so-called Swissmechanic-Land.
“The management at Swissmechanic reckon on 30 or so exhibitors taking part, occupying an area of around 1,000 m²,” says exhibition manager Claudia Käslin. Swissmechanic, which organizes the Swiss Skills Championship for young polymechanics, will choose, at its stand on the last day of the exhibition, the three best technicians in the disciplines of automation, CNC turning, and CNC milling.
Also, the Virtual Factory Nordwestschweiz/Mittelland is using Swisstech again as a marketing platform. It will be on display with 14 companies. And French-speaking Switzerland will again promote itself in Basel with a joint stand.
Swisstech exhibitors represent manufacturing services for metal and plastic components, heat and surface treatment, materials, semifinished products, components, tools, and e-procurement. In 2008, for the first time, the organizer is enabling exhibitors to present their companies with reference to 17 defined areas of application expertise, allowing them to target their customers in a more focused manner.
Prodex, the specialist exhibition for machine tools, tools, and production measurement technology, is again being staged at the same time as Swisstech.
