According to the Society of the Plastics Industry Inc. (SPI), which sponsors the triennial NPE plastics exposition, the makeup of the team now in charge of preparing for NPE 2009 is almost completely different from that responsible for managing NPE 2006. The team consists of SPI managers and representatives of industry companies who have volunteered to serve on the NPE 2009 Committee.
Key members of the new trade show team were presented at K 2007 in Düsseldorf. They included William R. (Bill) Carteaux, Gene Sanders, Tracy Cullen, Alan Carter, Randy Pearson, and John Effmann.
Carteaux has been president and CEO of SPI since 2005. Prior to that appointment, he had served in numerous other leadership positions with the association over a period of 15 years.
Gene Sanders joined SPI in July 2007 as vice president of trade shows. He has 26 years of experience in the management and marketing of industry shows and conferences.
Tracy Cullen, who joined SPI in January 2006, is vice president of communications and marketing and leads SPI’s information technology activities. She has broad experience in upper-level management of industry trade groups, having served the Chlorine Institute, the Synthetic Organic Chemical Manufacturers Association, the American Council of Engineering Companies, the Air Conditioning Contractors of America, and the American Society of Internal Medicine.
Alan Carter joined SPI in August 2007 as trade show sales manager. He has an extensive management background in sales, marketing, and trade publishing, with a concentration in international markets, and is widely experienced in project management, systems development and implementation, and new business development.
Randy Pearson, president of Xaloy Extrusion, is chairman of the NPE 2009 Committee. He served on the Operations Committee for NPE 2000 and subsequently was chairman of the NPE 2003 Operations Committee, chairman of the Plastics USA 2004 show, and vice chairman of NPE 2006. He has served on SPI’s national board.
John Effmann of Entek Manufacturing Inc. is vice chairman of the NPE 2009 Committee.
Pearson and Effmann head an executive board that is larger than those for past NPE events, with chairpersons for three new subcommittees focused on developing innovative educational programmes for NPE 2009, expanding the range of technologies presented at the show, and increasing the already sizable participation by international exhibitors and visitors.
NPE 2009 will take place June 22–26, 2009, at McCormick Place in Chicago.
