Strong 21% export growth in first nine months of 2007.
Italian plastics and rubber machinery exports have grown by 21% in the first nine months of 2007 while growth of imports has been constrained to just 2%.
These estimates were compiled by Assocomaplast – the Italian plastics and rubber machinery manufacturers association – using data from the Italian statistics office, Istat.
The association said Germany will confirm its position as the traditional first destination for Italian exports taking the lions share at €295m – a huge jump from the €192m in the same January-September period last year. Assocomaplast added that Italian machinery producers will end the full year of 2007 with a positive trade balance of €2bn.
Europe will have contributed the leading 63% share of the exports – 47% of exports to EU countries – to the value of €915m, according to the Association.
It added that sales to Russia are expected to have increased by around €74m to €140m. Extrusion machinery sales are estimated at €32m, followed by injection moulding machinery at €8m and foam machinery at €6.6m. Assocomoplast predicts that the share of sales to the American states has a 16%, accounting for sales of €307m, of which €185m to the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) countries.
Asia accounts for €301m against €299m in the same period in 2006, with the Middle East growing from €94m to €108m. The figures suggest that Far East sales will have dropped from €205m to €193m, primarily on account of a contraction of sales in China.
