There will a strong international representation at Interplas 2008, the UK’s leading plastics and rubber exhibition, according to the organizer, Reed Exhibitions. Reed says that the level of interest from foreign companies illustrates the importance of the UK market. Interplas 2008 opens to the world September 30 at the NEC, Birmingham, and closes its doors October 2.

“In terms of plastics materials and processes, the UK continues to be a major player,” adds the exhibition director, Liz Finlay. “Interplas therefore provides the ideal opportunity to showcase the very latest developments to a knowledgeable audience keen to maintain differentiation in a competitive global market.”

Among the overseas exhibitors already confirmed for the show are Meilian Chemical (China) and Sikora AG (Germany), both first-time Interplas exhibitors, Vecoplan AG (Germany), Sella S.r.l. (Italy), and Kenrich Petrochemicals Inc. (USA).

Meilian Chemical is a specialist manufacturer of polyethylene-based masterbatches. Franky Zhang, its export manager, says that the company sees the UK as a key element of its continued global expansion, and that its participation at Interplas will enable Meilian to raise its profile and make valuable new contacts.

Sikora, a worldwide manufacturer of measuring, control, and testing equipment, says that it plans to launch new products at Interplas, as well as displaying its existing instruments. “Interplas is the perfect forum in which to demonstrate our products and will help us to further build our presence in the UK market,” explains Katja Beyer of the corporate communications department.

Interplas 2008 will offer a wide range of products and machinery covering every aspect of plastics manufacturing, from raw materials and supply to ancillary and capital equipment. The exhibition will incorporate the Inspex feature, which focuses on the quality control and measurement industries, and it will run alongside the PPMA Show, a closely related processing and packaging machinery exhibition. Together, Interplas and the PPMA Show will constitute the largest UK manufacturing trade event in the autumn of 2008.

Interplas is a triennial showcase for the polymer industry and is fully endorsed and supported by the UK plastics and rubber industries and by leading trade associations.
