The Salzburg, Austria–based mechanical engineering company Emco was successful recently in competing against numerous competitors from Europe, the United States, and Japan to capture a large-scale order from Vietnam. The machine tool producer and world market leader in CNC training systems has finalized a contract with the Vietnamese government to deliver a total of 84 fully automatic CNC turning and milling machines.

The contract includes CAD/CAM training stations along with the corresponding technical support from qualified training staff. The machines will be used to equip the country’s technical universities in Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City (the former Saigon).

The project volume amounts to €18 million, which, according to Gerhard Glanz, Emco’s managing director, “gives us outstanding business perspectives for the forthcoming fiscal year.”

Emco and AEP Education Projects GmbH—both companies are subsidiaries of A-Tec Industries AG—are about to implement additional international projects. Emco’s Glanz and AEP’s managing director Robert Neubauer both are optimistic about receiving more new orders before this year is out.

It seems clear that the very positive development of Emco’s business during recent years will continue in the upcoming year: according to information coming directly from company managers, order books generated from day-to-day corporate business are quite full, virtually guaranteeing that 2008 to be another successful year for Emco.
