Vericut 6 CNC simulation and verification software, the latest release from CGTech Ltd., has won the MWP 2008 Best Software Award. The presentation of this year’s prestigious Metalworking Production Awards was the major evening event during MACH 2008, held in Birmingham, UK, in April.
The MWP competition was devised 25 years ago as a way of recognizing outstanding achievement in manufacturing technology in the UK machine tool industries. It culminates now in the awards ceremony that is a MACH highlight. The 2008 awards were presented on April 22 at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel.
The award judges’ summary of Vericut 6 included this statement: “In a world of increasing complexity, it enables users to work in a virtual world, knowing that, when it transfers this into reality, it will do exactly what you expect.”
Vericut allows the CNC programmer to simulate, verify, and optimize CNC programmes in a virtual reality environment. During simulation, an accurate in-process model is created, which can be measured, inspected, and even compared with a design model in order to detect over- or undercutting. Feed-rate optimization is available also, allowing for feed rates to be adjusted precisely according to the cutting conditions.
Vericut can be used stand-alone or integrated with any of the leading CAM systems, including CATIA, Siemens NX, PTC, Delcam PowerMill, Open Mind hyperMill, EdgeCAM, Mastercam, and GibbsCAM.
