China, the fastest-growing trading nation in the world, is currently thought to be tendering more than 300 industrial projects valued in excess of €20 billion. That country is looking to European companies to bring their technical expertise to these projects, along with a commitment to be partners in realizing their objectives. The European procurement summit Business in China, scheduled for May 28–29, 2008, in Berlin, will open a door to these potentially lucrative partnerships.
The variety and scale of China’s current industrial needs offer companies seriously seeking entry into this huge market major business opportunities. Indeed, many of the projects now being tendered could provide stable platforms on which to build sustainable future growth in China for partnering companies.
To dispel the myth that winning business in China is too difficult and complex for most enterprises, Montgomery Gray Events, a London-based specialist in creating international business investment forums, is organizing Business in China. The event will be staged at the 10,000-m² Berlin Congress Centre. It is supported by the UK’s CBI and Germany’s Berlin Partner, both globally respected advocates for international trade.
The procurement summit is intended to bring Chinese and European industrial decision makers together in an interactive marketplace designed to simplify and foster mutually beneficial introductions. Company representatives who attend need not be seeking to win any projects now on offer.
There will be places for 800 delegates at the event, which Montgomery Gray is organizing in conjunction with 10 supporting subcouncils of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), part of the China Chamber of International Commerce, the Chinese government body that has confirmed the validity, scale, and quality of the projects that will be offered for tender in Europe. The CCPIT is bringing 200 specially invited senior government and industry leaders to Berlin to discuss and negotiate the projects being actively tendered.
Project sectors involved include automotive, agriculture, construction, chemicals, energy, electronics, infrastructure, information technology, transport, telecommunications, textiles, plastics, and pharmaceuticals.
All European delegates to Business in China will receive, according to information they provide, a preevent planner that matches their requirements and scheduled private meetings with Chinese commercial and government representatives based on such criteria as industry sector, budget, objectives, capital, and corporate strategy.
Moreover, running concurrently with these preplanned procurement meetings will be a conference programme providing insights into the conduct of business in China, as well as a series of seminars focused on specific industry topics.
