The confirmed fastest-growing supplier of integrated CAM software solutions for the manufacturing industry, SolidCAM GmbH, has established a Japanese subsidiary. SolidCAM Japan K.K. is based in Tokyo and is headed by Sales Manager Norio Ohta. The company will focus on supporting and expanding SolidCAM’s business in Japan.
Mr. Ohta has more than 20 years of experience in senior technical and sales positions in the CAD/CAM industry. Prior to joining SolidCAM, he served as Delcam Japan’s technical sales manager. In welcoming Ohta to the company, Dr. Emil Somekh, SolidCAM’s founder and managing director, noted that “his vast experience will be instrumental to our growth plans in Japan.”
In related news, SolidCAM exhibited its latest release, SolidCAM2008 R12, at the 19th Design Engineering and Manufacturing Solutions Expo (DMS) in Tokyo on June 25–27. During a prerelease road show in Japan preceding DMS, the new version of SolidCAM2008 was well received by customers and distributors.
“SolidCAM has been selling in Japan for more than six years, through our long-time distributor Tactx K.K.” said Somekh. “The establishment of a permanent presence in Japan signifies our high commitment to the Japanese market.”
The MD went on to say that SolidCAM Japan would better enable his company to provide the necessary support and attention to Japanese customers and distributors. “We intend to expand our distributor network and cooperate very closely with the Japanese manufacturing industry,” he explained.
SolidCAM2008 R12 is Gold-certified for SolidWorks® 2008. The single-window user interface and the full associativity between the CAD model and NC tool path ensure a short learning curve and efficient data flow from the 3D design model to the machined part. Offering improvements in all milling applications, the new version provides a complete manufacturing solution with enhanced user-friendliness, more automation features, and additional CAM functions.
SolidCAM GmbH has been identified by the US consulting and market research firm CIMdata as the consistent growth leader among CAM software vendors worldwide over the past five years, with annual growth rates in the 30% range. CIMdata projects that SolidCAM will maintain its growth rates in 2008.
