Haas Automation Europe, the European headquarters of the American cnc machine tool builder Haas Automation Inc., is in the final stages of extending its Zaventem, Brussels–based head office, showroom, and service centre. The extension to the building will bring total covered floor space to more than 8,300 m².
Since moving into its regional headquarters in 2004, the company has seen its business in Europe flourish, growing by more than 40% annually. Haas employees working from the Zaventem facility now number 65. These include 25 service and support engineers.
The expanded HQ will include a new warehouse, spare parts storage, and training area (representing an increase of 1100 m² and additional office space (an increase of 475 m²). A 245-m² glass atrium will join the existing building to the new architect-designed extension.
Total investment in the project is expected to reach €2.5 million. Construction work will be completed in late August 2008, and an official grand opening is planned for late October.
“The building extension will give us the extra space and facilities we need to continue our rapid growth in Europe,” says HAE managing director Peter Hall. “It will provide an excellent, comfortable environment for our staff and will help to ensure that Haas customer service is always exemplary.”
Hall declares Belgium to be the best place for the company’s European head office. “In a few short years,” he explains, “we have built a pan-European Haas Factory Outlet network selling and supporting Haas machines in 25 countries around the continent. In Zaventem, we have access to talented, multilingual personnel and we are close to Brussels airport and the country’s highways.”
Haas Automation Inc., of Oxnard, California, announced earlier this year that 2007 was the most productive year in the company’s history. The company is the world-leading CNC machine tool builder by unit volume. In 2007, it launched the European edition of the Haas Technical Education Centre (HTEC) programme, which was initiated in North America in 1999. Since then, the Haas Automation Europe HTEC team has been setting up new collaborative CNC teaching facilities at universities, colleges, and technical schools across Europe.
“We are experiencing strong growth in Europe in 2008,” remarks Peter Hall. “We have a well-established distribution and support infrastructure, a fantastic range of CNC machine tools and rotary tables, and, with the rapidly expanding HTEC programme, one of the most creative and exciting initiatives in the European manufacturing sector in recent decades.”
