The next METAV international fair for manufacturing and automation is scheduled to be held February 23–27, 2010, in Düsseldorf. In opting for these dates for METAV 2010, the German Machine Tool Builders’ Association (VDW) has put itself in the position of staging the first trade fair event of that year for the whole metalworking sector.
“Two important international trade fairs for the branch are set to take place in Central Europe in 2010,” Dr. Detlev Elsinghorst, president of the METAV, explains. “At METAV as the first event, exhibitors have a great opportunity to bring their innovations onto the market early in the year, a really good time. Since customers’ investment budgets will by then not yet have been planned down to the last detail, exhibitors will have a valuable edge on potential contract commissions.”
The METAV fair addresses the entire investment goods industry. Trade visitors primarily hail from the machine and plant construction sectors and from the automotive manufacturing and supply industries. These are by far the major user sectors for production technology. In the face of fierce international competition, they can maintain and extend their global competitive advantage only by means of intelligent and efficient manufacturing technology.
In even-numbered years, METAV exhibits the entire spectrum of technology for industrial production. The main emphases among the goods on offer are machine tools for cutting and forming; manufacturing systems; precision tools; technology for automated material flow; computer technology; industrial electronics; and parts and accessories.
At the previous METAV held this spring, more than 840 international exhibitors presented their products and services at the Düsseldorf Fairgrounds. They attracted in excess of 52,000 trade visitors from 41 countries. This represented an increase in attendance of 8% over the 2006 event.
