Hexagon AB has entered into an agreement to acquire all outstanding shares of the German company Messtechnik Wetzlar GmbH (MTWZ). The company will be integrated into Hexagon Metrology, the world’s largest industrial measurement group, which incorporates the industry brands Brown & Sharpe, CE Johansson, CogniTens, DEA, Leitz, Leica Geosystems, Sheffield, Romer, PC-DMIS, and TESA.
The acquired company will continue operating as before, and will retain the Messtechnik Wetzlar name. It was founded in 1999 by 20 employees of the former Leitz Messtechnik, who took up the task of continuing to develop the existing Quindos measurement software on their own. Since then, the company has been distributing Quindos successfully. The software was developed specially for measurement in the area of power-train inspection.
Within Hexagon Metrology, MTWZ will further develop Quindos. In addition, it will offer solutions for turnkey projects in the field of metrology.
Hexagon Metrology uses Quindos in combination with high-accuracy Leitz coordinate measurement machines, and has until now been MTWZ’s largest and most important business partner.
“The acquisition of MTWZ shows our commitment to the high-end segment of software tools in the quality control of prismatic parts,” explains Ola Rollén, CEO and president of Hexagon AB. “MTWZ’s software package Quindos7 complements the Hexagon software package PC-DMIS and, thus, our software offerings in this area.”
Messtechnik Wetzlar has shown healthy growth over the past few years, which is expected to continue. It has been fully consolidated within Hexagon as of the beginning of July.
