On September 23 and 24, the 9th international users conference on rapid prototyping, rapid tooling, and rapid manufacturing, Euro-uRapid 2008, takes place in Berlin, at the Jerusalemkirche Conference Centre. The conference will present the latest high-tech concepts and solutions for users and researchers, including OEMs and suppliers in the automotive, aerospace, plastics processing, medical technology, mechanical engineering, electronics, microtechnology, packaging technology, and other industries.
Organization of the event is handled by the Euro-uRapid Platform office at the Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operations and Automation (IFF) in Magdeburg, Germany. The Euro-uRapid Platform stands as an industry and research partner whose tasks include serving as a transfer and support centre for national and international cooperations and projects related to advanced rapid technologies, instigating collaborative development of concepts and practical projects in the field, providing market analyses and projections, and organizing networks for using and implementing rapid services on the basis of division of labour.
The conference consists of seven sessions over two days, with a Berlin sightseeing tour and dinner occupying the evening of the first day. The event is bilingual; presentations will be made in German and in English, simultaneously translated.
The organizers again offer the conference as an opportunity to learn about state-of-the-art options in rapid technologies. The up-to-the-minute applications that will be discussed can help companies ensure their continuing competitiveness by enabling them to manufacture innovative, intelligent products, respond to orders with flexibility, and bring new products to market more quickly.
Euro-uRapid 2008 holds the key this year to discovering ways to save more time and further reduce costs in manufacturing.
The opening session, which fills the morning of Tuesday, September 23, presents trends and Fraunhofer research activities, a report on EU funding for rapid technologies, and discussions of intelligent-product design and so-called “personal (Zuhause) fabrication.
Tuesday afternoon sessions cover future prospects for rapid technologies, rapid solutions for various industrial branches, and special applications for motor sports and aviation.
The Wednesday agenda includes sessions entitled Rapid for Plastics & Ceramics, Quality Management for Rapid Processes, and Rapid Modelling & Management.
