The next edition of METAV, the International Fair for Manufacturing Technology and Automation, will be held in Düsseldorf, Germany, from March 31 to April 4, 2008. METAV 2008, like all of the preceding shows in Düsseldorf dating back to 1980, is organized by VDW, the German Machine Tool Builders’ Association.
Staged in even-dated years, this trade fair has become established as a premier technology showcase of the entire manufacturing equipment and automation sector in Germany. The METAV fair presents the complete spectrum of manufacturing technology to producers and customers from all over Europe. Its principal focuses include machine tools, manufacturing systems, precision tools, material-flow automation, computer technology, industrial electronics, and accessories.
With METAV, the VDW targets visitors from all major branches of industry, particularly mechanical engineering and plant construction, the automotive sector and its component suppliers, iron and steel, the nonferrous metal industry, and the craft sector. At the last METAV in Düsseldorf in 2006, 926 exhibitors from 21 countries displayed their offerings on 56,065 m² of net exhibition area. They attracted 47,500 trade visitors from 39 nations.
Two other prominent international trade fairs—wire, the International Trade Fair for Wire and Cable, and Tube, the International Trade Fair for Tubes and Piping—will be held concurrently with METAV in 2008.
