Four simplified stepsThe new concept of advanced machining functions is based on the idea that any five-axis machining function, no matter how complex, can be defined in a few simple steps. The mold maker took a time-tested approach to setting up mold production programs:(1) The area to be processed and the processing sequence. This step is based on the complexity of the part's appearance, and it is often the easiest to inspire the ingenuity of a skilled mechanic.(2) What kind of shape should the tool path in the machining area have? Should the tool be cut in front, back, or top-to-bottom order according to the parametric lines of the surface, and the surface boundary be used as a guide?(3) How do you guide the tool axis so that it matches the tool path? This is important for the quality of the surface finish and whether a short hard tool is used in a confined space. Moldmakers need to fully control the tool, including the front and rear inclinations that occur when the tool is tilted. In addition, the angular limits generated by the rotation of the table or the tool holder of many machine tools must be taken into consideration. For example, there is a limit to the degree of rotation of a milling/turning machine.(4) How to change the cutting path of the tool? How to control the displacement of the tool at the starting point of the tool path, and the displacement that the tool must produce between the machining areas? The displacement generated during the conversion process is very critical in the mold production. It can eliminate traces of evidence and tools (it can be removed by manual polishing afterwards).New ideasFollowing the idea of a mechanic in deciding how to process complex parts in five axes is a better way to develop CAM software. Why decompose five-axis machining functions rather than develop a familiar and easy-to-understand, single programming process for programmers? This advanced technology will eliminate the contradiction between powerful features and ease of use. By simplifying the multi-axis machining method into a unique function, the user can quickly and skillfully utilize all the functions of the product. With this new feature, CAM allows for maximum flexibility and compactness in 5-axis machining.
