The progressive patterns are made by means of a cutting and forming process using a “die” that contains a series of simultaneous operations on the metal plate fed by strips from a roll of material. The finished metal part develops as the strip of material is subjected to the process through the die for stamping. This transformation is carried out incrementally, or progressively, through a series of stations that cut and shape the material in the desired shape. The die is placed in the printing press. As the press moves up, the die opens. When the press moves down, the die closes.
