Plant-wide Monitoring From a New Source

A new modular PC software package for plantwide process and production monitoring comes from Engel North America, York, Pa. Its new Windows-based e-factory software acts as an interface between the molding presses and the users’ business information (ERP) system. The software can determine production efficiencies as well as machine and process capabilities and SPC/SQC data. Using an Ethernet network, the software also allows machine settings to be exported directly to the machine control systems for faster setup. It contains a module that aids remote troubleshooting and diagnostics. One basic access module on a PC handles up to 20 machines and Engel robots. Multiple modules can be networked for up to around 100 machines.
