More than 800 exhibitors have already signed up to exhibit at Mec-Spe, the international fair of skilled mechanics, returning to Parma, Italy, March 19–21, 2009. Senaf S.r.l., the event organizer, expects Mec-Spe 2009, which will take place at the Parma Fairgrounds (Fiere di Parma), to improve on the success of last year’s edition, which welcomed more than 1,000 exhibitors and 23,000 visitors and occupied more than 42,000 m² of exhibition space.

Mec-Spe, with its six co-located and related trade fairs, offers a comprehensive view of the wide field of skilled mechanics and, according to Senaf, creates ideal conditions for business contacts among the participants. Besides Mec-Spe, “the city of special mechanics,” visitors can explore the world of moulds and moulding at Eurostampi and PlastixExpo, subcontracting options at Subfornitura, automation, robotics, and power transmission technologies at Motek Italy, metrology and quality at Control Italy, and machines, installations, products, and accessories for the treatment and finishing of surfaces at Trattamenti & Finiture (Treatments and Finishings).

As before, exhibitors’ stands will serve as shop windows for experts visiting the city of mechanics and walking through its technology-focused avenues and squares. And scattered throughout the exhibition will be dozens of working areas, where partner companies will be demonstrating on fully operative machines how applying their capabilities jointly can result in a finished product that achieves world-class quality standards. Each working area creates a context that faithfully replicates the real-world production floor.

“Through the working areas, we can prove that we can really do what we usually talk about,” says Giuseppe Bottazzi, general manager of Agie Charmilles S.p.A. “In fact, it’s easier to ask questions and give answers after watching a real example that can immediately explain an idea.”

Adds Ugo Ghilardi, managing director of DMG Italia, “Working areas provide a multifunctional and global approach to the problems related to mechanical production that doesn’t consider only the simple, technical aspects but also the economic ones, the scheduling times and competitors.”
